About Our Process:

Many of our songs are written during times of reflection, healing, and processing pain from my experiences with intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and rape.

I often write a one note guitar riff that fits with lyrics that tends to pour out after a few drinks and emotions start to bubble to the surface.

When I bring a skeleton of a song into the room with Matt, Todd, and Mike they fill in the rest and take it to the next level. I feel so lucky to work with three men that are willing to listen, support, and help bring to life my very personal experiences as a woman, survivor, and artist.

Sometimes the guys will bring in a concept and we will take it as a group and run with it. Often times Todd will come in with a riff or a vocal melody he thinks of in a dream and we try to decipher it.

The collaboration always feels very organic. In those instances I flip through lyrics I have written in the past and add something that fits with the idea. Everyone puts their own flare on it.

I think the biggest thing I’ve taken away from our process so far is that we are all open and willing to try any idea that someone brings to the table. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but it’s fun and rewarding no matter what.

Why costumes? Whats with all the blood?

I have a background in performance art, modern dance, and theatre. After we dressed up as supervillians for our Halloween show at Chop Shop 10/24/20 we got really positive feedback about how striking it was for us to perform in costumes.

All of the themes we choose have significance. For our Chop Shop show I dressed as Poison Ivy. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and as a survivor I am very plugged in to volunteer work to help fellow survivors. Poison Ivy helps Harlyquinn escape from Joker, who is her abuser. It seemed fitting to dress as her.

For the Valentines day Massacre at The Burlington Bar on 2/14/20 I dressed as a zombie-apocalyptic style cupid to make a statement about how violent love can be. Even our language around love "falling in love" and the concept of being "hunted down and shot with a bow and arrow" by cupid. It's not all serious though-it was pretty fun and badass to be covered in blood on valentines day : )
